About
Alice is, by all appearances, a perfectly normal woman who's ended up in a very strange job. Her universe is one full of supernatural horrors hidden in plain sight and being managed by a bureaucratic system that likely thinks it has far more control than it really does. Meanwhile Alice is stubbornly ignoring it all and keeping her head down to try and avoid getting it cut off. It's not that she's unaware that the horrific stories that filter through their computers are probably real, it's that she thinks the right response to this is to pretend that she is. This approach extends to almost every other problem in her life.
In all likelihood she is a bundle of secrets, ranging from the mundanity of not being as over her ex as she'd like him to think she is, to the true nature of what she's really experienced in her life to bring her to where she is.

Personality
Alice is best described as the kind of person who always thinks she's the funniest one in the room and is going to make sure you know it. She's got a very chaotic, online sense of humour that you either love or hate, but even though by default she will inflict this on anyone and everyone, if someone actually tells her to cut it out and be serious for a bit, she will (sometimes, anyway). When she's not deflecting all serious emotion with humour, she can actually be pretty sensible and even insightful, dishing out what's generally sound advice even if it doesn't always get listened to. But she does also have a bit of a mean streak and a tendency to push up against boundaries a little too hard, often causing both the other party and herself discomfort in the process. Her emotional masochism is a repeated occurrence.
She's irreverent towards almost everything, especially authority, and at least puts on a front of not being affected by the work they do in the OIAR, but it's clear she knows just how badly it can affect people, and it's likely that most people who get hired there have gone through some horrible experience of their own. She's not anywhere near as content with her situation as she acts, hiding behind a front that masks much more complicated emotions about being unfulfilled/stuck in a job she hates and feeling lonely/isolated. She also clearly knows more than she's letting on, something that only becomes more obvious the more other people poke further. Appearance
5'11" white woman in her mid-thirties, with fashionably messy dark brunette hair that rests at about shoulder-length most of the time (and sometimes when she has dye she'll play around with it). She's got rather strong features and dark brown eyes with a flair of near-constant mischief to them. She takes good care of herself, but is typically mostly plain-faced in terms of things like make-up—though she'll play around for dates or nights out and the like. Her face is expressive, even if that expression is most often a mask of humour. She has multiple piercings in both ears and a bar in her right eyebrow. Her style tends towards casual and/or alternative when that style is available, and she'll alternate readily between skirts and trousers depending on the vibe of the day.
Her overall build is average. She's not particularly slim, nor toned, but she's not bulky or carrying that much extra weight either. She keeps fit enough but is an office worker who survives on caffeine, easy meals, takeout, etc etc. She is Just Some Gal, in almost every way.

History
Alice's history is still largely unknown, but here's what we do know: she grew up in the North of England with her parents and brother, Luke. When she was 18 she moved to Nottingham as a University student where she met Samama Khalid, who she dated throughout their time studying and a short time after. Her parents both died not long after graduation, something Alice seems to have seen first hand, following which she most likely had to step up to make sure her younger brother had his life in order and started working at the Office of Incidents and Reports down in London to support them both. Ten years have come and gone and now Alice, the employee who's lasted the longest at the OIAR, has hooked Sam up with a job there after he fell on hard times. The problems with this are twofold: 1) Alice is realising she's not entirely over the guy even a decade after the break-up and 2) unlike Alice, who learned long ago to stop questioning the veracity of the incidents and just keep her head down, Sam can't stop poking his nose into places that are going to get it cut off.
Alice's attempts to dissuade him have failed and this lead them to the burned down Magnus Institute, where as far as they know they fell through a hole in the floor to their deaths.
Other things that can be assumed are that Alice transitioned sometime before or during her Uni years, and that Alice has had some kind of brush up against the supernatural. However the details of her life and experiences with the supernatural outside her work remain to be seen.
